Terms of Service
Effective August 14, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Trail Planner (“Trail Planner”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of the Trail Planner website at trailplanner.ai and the trip-planning features offered through it (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use Trail Planner, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your password confidential. Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it current. Tell us promptly at support@trailplanner.ai if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Beta service
Trail Planner is offered free of charge while in beta. Features may change, break, or be removed, and we may impose or adjust usage limits. We may also start charging for some features in the future; if we do, we will tell you before any charge applies to you.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the trips, notes, gear lists, and other content you add to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to submit it.
5. Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights using the Service;
- upload malware or attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
- scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service or its data except as we expressly allow;
- misrepresent trail conditions or safety information in a way that could put other people at risk.
6. Trail information and safety
Trail Planner helps you plan; it does not guarantee your safety. Trail data, weather forecasts, difficulty ratings, and gear suggestions are provided for convenience and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Conditions in the backcountry change quickly. You are responsible for your own decisions in the field, including checking official sources, carrying appropriate equipment, and turning back when conditions require it.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties — for example weather providers and mapping or search infrastructure. We are not responsible for those services, and their own terms may apply to the data they provide.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably need to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trail Planner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Service. Because the Service is currently provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Contact
